Founded in 1957, Harwood Center, Inc. is a local, Memphis-established nonprofit organization dedicated to providing early intervention ABA and Speech Therapy.

Historically, Harwood Center has supported the community through serving children with special needs within preschool classrooms and has adapted its programs across time to support the present needs of our Memphis community and surrounding areas.
Today, our dedicated team of Licensed and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Speech Therapists, and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) provides specialized Applied Behavior Analysis and Speech Therapy designed to help children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder and other related disabilities thrive.
We specialize in early intervention therapy for children 18 months to 6 years old as well as therapy support for elementary age children 6 to 8 years old. Therapy at Harwood Center focuses on the fundamental development of language and communication skills, feeding skills, social skills, adaptive life skills, and functional behaviors.

Early Intervention Focus

The Bridge Program
Learners from 6–8 years old have the unique opportunity to participate in our Bridge Program. This specialized program allows them to attend school-related services while continuing to receive consistent therapy from Harwood Center through support in both the school setting and within our clinic setting.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy
Target Age: Early Intervention (18 months to 6 years old)
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy is a research-based, medically necessary, and individualized treatment designed to help individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder reach their full potential. Led by Licensed and Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) alongside Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs), our program provides ethical, excellent therapy tailored to each individual learner.
Note for Parents: ABA therapy is frequently covered by medical insurance providers with pre-authorization of services.
Bridge Program
Target Age: 6 years old to 8 years old
Our Bridge Program is uniquely built to support currently enrolled learners as they transition into their elementary educational settings. This specialized track allows children to maintain their ABA therapy progress while successfully integrating with their active school programs.
Speech & Language Therapy
Target Age: 18 months to 8 years old
Speech Language Therapy is an evidence-based, medically necessary treatment program engineered to assess, diagnose, and treat diverse communication, cognitive, and swallowing/feeding disorders. Backed by the standards of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), our early intervention speech and feeding therapy empowers young learners to build essential communication confidence.
