Early Intervention and Developmental Disabilities
The first three years...
The first three years of life are a period of incredible growth in all areas of a child’s development, making early intervention services critical for an individual with developmental disabilities. The newborn brain is approximately 25% of its future adult weight. By age 5, a child has developed 85% of his or her intellect, personality, and skills. The first months and years of life set the stage for lifelong development.
At Harwood Center, we recognize the incredible need for early intervention and the importance it has on the development of children. Our small class sizes allow for individualized educational programming, while our structured 1:1 behavior therapy is available to maximize brain development during these critical years. Harwood’s Early Intervention classrooms are designed for children aged 18 months to 6 years. Applied Behavior Analysis therapy is also available to children aged 18 months and older.
