Achievements
Harwood Center consistently receives high marks from regulatory and funding agencies. In 2009, the United Way's program review demonstrated that 80% of Harwood’s children made progress in all areas of development and 98% improved overall.
In February 2006, Harwood graduated from The Grant Center's program, Alliance for Nonprofit Excellence. As part of the inaugural class of seven agencies, Harwood participated in a rigorous, three-year program focusing on capacity-building, as well as increasing Harwood’s ability to carry out its mission, sustain its operations, adapt to changing times, and demonstrate accountability.
Harwood Center is licensed by the Tennessee Department of Mental Health & Developmental Disabilities. Harwood is one of the few agencies in Shelby and surrounding counties with specialized programs for children under five with autism spectrum disorders.
United Way recognizes Harwood Center as a partner agency, an honor of excellence bestowed on only a few agencies throughout the state.
